A note, a sound, an air, you can write them down and then leave them to be read or played; but you can also write nothing, just sit down, play your note, watch it flow and expand, add another to it and then another, and on and on. There may also be two of you: the second sits down, plays a note, watches it flow, adds another to it, and watches it drift and blend with the others. And then there can be three; the third arrives, sits down, plays a note, adds another, and another, and watches them all blend with those already assembled. And as they play, they may sometimes contemplate each other, but it’s the notes that contemplate each other above all, as they merge, stretch, spread (sometimes collide), creating an impromptu odyssey created from the notes and the sound… And when there’s nothing more to add, they stand up and say goodbye. They may have never seen each other before and may never see each other again; or they may have seen each other before and may see each other again, and then create another of the airs where sound and noise are expressed with a same impulse without ever being fixed. Une note, un son, un souffle, on peut les écrire et les donner à lire, à jouer ; mais on peut aussi ne rien faire, c’est-à-dire simplement s’asseoir, jouer sa note, la regarder s’écouler et s’étendre, lui en ajouter une autre et à ces deux-là une autre ainsi de suite. On peut aussi être deux : le deuxième s’assoit, joue sa note, la regarde s’écouler, lui en ajoute une autre et la regarde s’ajouter aux autres et s’y mêler ; et comme on peut être trois, le troisième arrive, s’assoit, joue sa note, lui en ajoute une autre et une autre, et les regarde toutes se mêler aux autres déjà assemblés. Sur la route, ils ont bien parfois des regards les uns pour les autres, mais ce sont les notes surtout qui se regardent, se mêlent, s’étirent, se répandent (parfois se percutent), font du son et du souffle un voyage instantané…  Lorsque tout est achevé, ils se lèvent, se quittent ; ils ne s’étaient peut-être jamais vus et ne se reverront peut-être jamais ; ou s’étaient vus, se reverront et entonneront alors un autre de ces chants où bruits et sons dans un même élan s’entendent sans s’être jamais entendus. Manoeuvres Sentimentales est un trio d’improvisateurs-compositeurs, qui se caractérise par son énergie et sa complexité architecturale. Entre musiques libres-improvisées et avant-garde expérimentale et contemporaine, sa musique est intense, précise, imprévisible, évolutive. Riche bourgeonnement de timbres, vision multi-structurelle, superpositions sonores complexes, Manoeuvres Sentimentales est un peu comme se perdre en forêt, être face à la mer tout en haut d’une falaise, ou encore un verre qui explose en mille éclats de lumière…
